On Monday 24th June 2019 @ 1315 I depart Newquay Airport as a solo traveller destination Ilulissat in Western Greenland. My journey takes me on an SAS flight to Copenhagen (overnight in the Radisson Park Inn near the airport) and then morning flights with Greenland Air to Kangerlussuaq and then onto Ilulissat. The recommendation for the final flight is to try and get a window seat as the views over the Icefjord near Ilulissat are stunning.
On arrival in Ilulissat I transfer to Hotel Artic (the most northern 4 star hotel and listed in 2017 as one of the 8 most remote hotels in the world). Hotel Artic is the base for my solo adventures in and around Ilulissat most of which have been pre arranged, sorted and paid for, however, today I read about walks around Ilulissat by other solo travellers. The most poignant experience appears to have been the silence of the Artic broken only by the popping and cracking of the Icebergs.
